ITV2 is ITV's first digital channel available on all digital platforms and online. The channel was launched on 7 December 1998 and is broadcast 24 hours a day, although for a couple of hours early morning, the channel broadcasts Teleshopping. It is primarily aimed towards teenagers and young adults mainly broadcasting American dramas, reality and chat shows and films as well as original programs such as Secret Diary of a Call Girl, spin off shows such as The Xtra Factor, and most recently, drama Trinity.
In 1999, both STV and UTV launched their own digital channels, called S2 and UTV2 respectively. S2 ceased broadcasting in 2001 after a deal with ITV Digital to replace it with ITV2. UTV2 also ceased broadcasting and was replaced by ITV2 in 2002.
